Frequently asked questions

This is a great question; it is natural to ask yourself this. Nothing is wrong with you, and this isn’t as big of a problem as you may think. Typically the feeling of being more comfortable at work than with your friends or family is due to two key things:

  1. Your identity is rooted in your business, and it is incredibly awkward when you are away “too long” and not spending the “right amount of time” building your business and feeding your identity or ego.
  2. Your priority management may be a little off-kilter, and instead of thinking of your business as a vehicle to accomplish your life goals and desires, you think your business IS your goals and desires, and your life becomes your business, which is backward. Essentially your business becomes an all-consuming entity.

The good thing is you’re right where you’re supposed to be. Let’s work together on this question and the root cause of these feelings to align yourself and your daily actions while not sacrificing your personal life to feed your business or ego identity.

This can be tricky to unpack and break down in this short space so I will try my best.

It comes down to a mindset and limited belief that is typically rooted in ego or lack of trust, typically sounding like “if I want it done right, I need to do it myself” or “my staff doesn’t understand what I want, I might as well do it myself.” 

It is likely either your ego telling you that “you’re the best and no one will EVER match up to you” or from a place of mistrust. It is also possible that you do not have the right people in the right seats at your company. You feel you need to control how other people do their work, which results in your staff becoming order-takers and not autonomous badass people, working as a united team and producing extraordinary results. 

The good thing is this is figureoutable, and we will give you the tool necessary to overcome this limiting belief mindset. Resulting in a united team vision and producing extraordinary results for your clients. 

If you knew exactly what you were doing, needing no one else’s perspective, and felt like you were already “too successful” all on “your own,” then why are you reading this right meow?

By no means am I saying that I am the bombdiggity and a know-it-all because I do not know everything and will never claim to. What I can tell you is that I have been in your shoes and walked a similar journey as yours. 

After watching my father work himself to death at the age of sixteen, I committed myself to retiring by forty.  Without any skills or direction, I had no way to make that happen. I found a way to start a computer repair business from my garage and grew it to 12 employees within a few years! But before I knew it, I wasn’t empowered by my business; I was trapped in it. I found myself with more money and success than I’ve ever had in my life, BUT in the process, I had actually lost myself to the business, and it was lonely, depressing, and scary. I started this business to live my life on my own terms, but my life just became the business. I was on a path to getting what I wanted, but before I knew it, I was trapped, missing out on valuable time with my family, and couldn’t even maintain healthy relationships, which actually created a nightmare. I knew I couldn’t go on like that, and that’s when I realized balance is bullshit, and I was never just going to “figure it out!”

I decided I had to make a change; I took simple and key strategic action in very specific areas of my business, and within eight months, I was able to sell my business for a profit I’m proud of. It is now my mission to coach and teach other entrepreneurs so that they don’t have to suffer under the weight of the thing they created and spend forty years enduring the same bullshit I did simply to “figure it out.”

I have seen many entrepreneurs, some of my friends, and many that I do not know, and they never get out. Life is not a balancing act; it is meant to be lived fully and a little messy sometimes. This is another great question that has many layers to unpack. Here are several key components that we go to work on throughout our coaching:

  1. Mindset and exploring your relationship with money, employees, and why you want to scale your business.
  2. Exploring your goals and desires to bring clarity and vision to them.
  3. The resources (money, people, clients, etc.) necessary to scale.
  4. Why do you want to scale? What could be eliminated or automated to increase your net profit without having to add to your gross profit and think that will make you more profitable?

This is a fun question to break down and discuss, because our mission is to turn your years of hard work in your business into an asset you can sell or scale on your own terms.

Our coaching philosophy and methodology are rooted in you as a person, and your business is a separate entity from you. You are NOT your business. Most entrepreneurs set themselves up to BE the know-it-all in their business; ergo, if staff needs to know something, they ask the entrepreneur the answer and any time you leave for more than a lunch break you will get bombarded with emails, texts or calls asking how or what to do.

It is time to fire yourself from your job and start being an owner of a thriving enterprise with badass people that you trust, clients that you enjoy working with, and earning an income that you are proud of!

This vision should include things like what you’re aiming for over the next five years and have specific, measurable goals like gross income, net income, the type of client you want, etc. Your staff cannot effectively operate without you if they do not know where they’re going and do not have you to tell them daily.
